Show at Fort C.F. Smith this weekend

Out of the shadows, pastel, LK (Linda) Jeffers
My favorite Arlington Artist Alliance exhibit, Artful Weekend at Fort C.F. Smith, is this Friday, Nov. 20th thru Sunday, Nov. 22nd.  Fort C. F. Smith is a wonderful park/historic house in Arlington, VA. The opening reception will be on Friday from 6-8PM.  I'll be there at least from 6-7 and maybe until the close. The show will also be open from 10-5 on Saturday (I'll be there from 10-12, working on the bookkeeping on the 2nd floor).  And, on Sunday, the last day, the show is open from noon-4PM. I'll be there around 3:30 until the close.  There is a parking lot on the left just after you pass the entrance area.  There is also street parking. See the map below for directions.

My pastel (above), "Out of the shadows" will be on sale as will some of my other pastels and watercolors.  Hope to see you there.

Art at the Mill FREE Closing Reception Sunday, Oct 18th

'Sky Meadows', watercolor, LK Jeffers
The Clarke County Historical Association is inviting all artists and their families and friends to attend the Artist Celebration this Sunday from 2-5PM at the Art at the Mill exhibit at the Burwell-Morgan in Millwood, VA.  This event is free and light refreshments will be served.  Come meet the artists.  I will be there from 4-5PM.

On the way to the Mill you may want to take a short detour to Paris VA and have lunch at the amazing Ashby Inn.  Be sure to call ahead for reservations.  It's a beautiful drive to the mill and the Ashby Inn.  And, Paris VA is especially lovely this time of year.  There is also a lovely gourmet sandwich shop across the road from the Mill.

The drive to the Burwell-Morgan Mill in Millwood VA is a little over an hour from Arlington VA. Take I-66 west about 52 miles to Exit 23 for US-17N/VA-55 W/Winchester Rd towards Delaphane/Paris.  Follow US-17 north about 8 miles.  Turn left onto John S. Mosby Hwy (US17N, US 50W).  After 6.5 miles turn right onto Bishop Meade Rd (Route 255). Continue going straight ahead where the road splits.  The Mill parking lot will be on your left.

I hope to see you there!

Below are some photos of some of the walls of art at the Mill when I was there last week. They held art in reserve to replace the empty spaces as art sold. So, there will still be plenty of wonderful, affordable art to see - and a chance to meet the various artists.

Mine is the watercolor on the left in the middle (from photos I took at the Torpedo Factory).

The silkscreen print of Marleen Denny's cat (bottom middle) is mine.

Watercolor in the middle (based on photos taken at Sky Meadows) is mine.

Watercolor on bottom left, clothes hanging just outside the Mill, is mine.

Accepted into Del Ray Artisans "Skeletons" exhibit

NOTE: To see larger images of the art, click on any image below.

I had three works accepted into the Del Ray Artisans exhibit "Skeletons: Exploring Under the Surface" which features artwork that examines what is under the surface, literally or figuratively.

Penetration, digital art, LK Jeffers
This is my portrayal of the almost constant penetration of our heart and soul by love, hate, news, social media, etc.

Intruding Past, digital art, LK Jeffes
This piece is an homage to my Dad.  That is a portrait of him on the right.  He lived through a lot of traumatic experiences in his life.  I don't know if it was because of those past experiences or in spite of them, that he became such an amazingly caring and loving person.

Barely Keeping My Head Above Water, serigraph, LK Jeffers
Finally, this serigraph print, 'Barely Keeping My Head Above Water',  represents how I have felt much of my life :).

The exhibit will be up the month of October with an opening reception on Friday, Oct 2nd and a Halloween Party on Oct. 31st.  The Del Ray Artisans gallery is located at 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria VA.  Visit www.DelrayArtisans.org for more information.

Art at the Mill's 25th Anniversary Exhibition October 3-18, 2015

Hanging at the Mill, watercolor, LK Jeffers

Sky Meadows, watercolor, LK Jeffers
I'm thrilled to have 3 watercolors and 2 hand-pulled prints accepted into The Art at the Mill's 25th anniversary exhibition which runs from Oct. 3rd to Oct 18th at the  Burwell-Morgan Mill at 15 Tannery Lane, Millwood, VA.

The show will have 2D and 3D art, at very reasonable prices, from many fine artists. This is a fund raising exhibit with 40% of the proceeds going to help with the upkeep of the Mill.  There will be several hundred works of art on display that were selected from more than 1,100 works submitted. Historically, many of them sell in the first few days.

It's a beautiful drive to the Mill.  If you take Routes 66 and 17 it's a little over an hour from Arlington with apple orchards and wineries along the way. There is a gourmet shop across the street from the Mill with light meals/snacks.  And, several fine restaurants are in the general area such as the Ashby Inn.

The closing reception is Oct. 18th.  There is also a "free" day on Sat. Oct. 10th, otherwise the cost of this fund raising exhibit is $5 ($3 seniors, children 12 and under are free).
